How do you access the presence?

Psalm 46:10 Be still, and know that I am God

Theory

Accessing the presence does not have anything to do with thinking about God
It does not have anything to do with our own righteousness.
It is not anything we 'do' like taking communion, or worshiping in church.
It is not 'slain in the spirit' or speaking in tongues.
It is not the feeling we get when we do something 'good'.
It is not something we earn or something we deserve

Accessing the presence happens in our heart. It happens In our spirit.
It happens when we open our heart and open our spirit to the Lord's Spirit.
It happens when His Spirit commingles with our spirit
It happens when we are aware of His presence within us.
It is a gift from God, according to the good pleasure of His Will.

This is what Jesus was talking about when He said 'I stand at the door (of your heart) and knock, and if any man open, I will come in..

This is what the Psalmist was talking about (the doors of your heart) when He said
Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah. (Psalm 24:7-10)

This is Holy ground.

The first time you find His presence in your heart, it may be dramatic - or not. But Once you find the presence the first time, it becomes easy to find Him there all the time; while you are walking around, or talking to people, or whatever you are doing. The Mennonites call this 'awakening'.

Practice

Find a quiet place. Open your heart and your spirit to the Lord. Invite Him in and tell Him There is no place in your heart or your spirit that He is not welcome. Then be still and wait on Him. If any thoughts emerge from your mind, let them pass. Especially 'holy' thoughts.
